ABOUT US
LAUTARO AND LUCIANO, THE BROTHERS BEHIND VARGAS BROTHERS FIRE PITS.
When our family came to the UK from Argentina in the 1970s, with us came a tradition of open fire cooking along with the gaucho tradition of self-made barbecue equipment.
We used these skills from the very beginning to build a range of equipment for our barbecue catering firm, The Vargas Brothers, but it is the long tradition of saving old plough blades and repurposing them for fire pit cooking, that we have now adapted for the wider public to make fire pits and chapa cooking plates.
The Vargas Brothers Arado Fire Pit is built from the hot-forged Discos de Arado, plough blades, allowing it to both take and deliver great heat. Just like the food we cook, provenance, the environment and sustainability are all key to what we do. These fire pits started life as railway track steels before being reforged for plough blades and now in their third iteration, are one of the most robust firepits on the market.
We've also added a barbecue grill for the fire pits, making it one of the best portable fire pit cooking set ups you'll ever get your hands on.
The Vargas Brothers Arado Fire Pit, grills and chapa are large and solid enough to be a garden or patio fixture, while their detachable legs make them straightforward to store and transport for outings or camping trips.
A SELECTION OF VARGAS BROTHERS' EQUIPMENT OVER THE YEARS
Here’s an early rotisserie design by Papa Vargas with Lautaro checking the embers.
‘El Cholo’, our first big capacity grill, also by Papa Vargas. Measuring 6 foot by 2 foot, we took the frame from an old butcher’s block for this versatile and robust grill.
Built in the tradition of the Argentine parrillas, ‘Serge Blanco’ is named after the phenomenal French full back –‘blanco’ is white in Spanish like the chimney, both cut a dash and both love a smoke.
