SUSTAINABLY MADE FIRE PITS

FOR VARGAS BROTHERS FIRE PITS SUSTAINABILITY IS PARAMOUNT.

When Argentine farmers first put their old plough blades –  ‘discos de arado’ – over fire to cook up a little stew, they were unlikely to have guessed it would become a mainstay of the Argentine asado tradition, alongside the chapa griddle, the cruz metal cross and of course la parrilla grill.

Today, the appeal of being able to reuse an otherwise defunct object goes beyond mere convenience, it’s recycling – or upcycling – and is central to our mission at Vargas Brothers Fire Pits to run an environmentally responsible and sustainable business.

In fact, Vargas Brothers' disco de arado fire pits, fire pans and chapas are now inhabiting their third lives, having been previously recycled. Our fire pits and chapas started life as railway track steels before being reforged into plough blades.

The fire pits are also made to pack down, making them excellent for throwing in the back of the car or roof box when staycationing, a great accompaniment on the campsite.

As well as repurposing the plough blades themselves, we use recycled and recyclable materials where we can in the packaging of our products, so don’t be surprised to see a bike or other random logo printed on the side of your parcel.
